The expected release of the final report of the 2010 National Population and Housing Census by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) and the build up to the 2012 polls have triggered widespread speculation about a possible increase in the number of parliamentary seats. Indeed, recent reports floating in the media suggest that the Electoral Commission (EC) may create as many as 45 new constituencies, raising the number of parliamentarians to 275.
