Oli and Gas Contracts and Licenses: How to Ensure Transparency and Accountability
04 December, 2014
Several studies highlight the importance of transparency and accountability in natural resource governance. Improved levels of transparency are associated with improved natural resource receipts and lower levels of corruption. While a number of recent studies have concluded that though some progress has been made in improving transparency in Ghana’s oil sector, there is a need for more transparency in the assessment of implications of oil and gas contracts, especially by citizens.
In the light of these challenges, the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) with financial support from Strengthening Transparency, Accountability and Responsiveness in Ghana (STAR-Ghana) has undertaken a project to promote transparency and accountability in oil and gas contracting
and licensing in Ghana’s emerging oil and gas sector.
