Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) COVID-19 Advisory
As part of precautionary measures to contain the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) wishes to inform its partners, stakeholders and the general public that:
- Stakeholders are encouraged to take advantage of virtual tools in communicating with their contact persons in-house. If coming by the Center is absolutely necessary, visitors are advised to use the alcohol-based hand sanitizers provided throughout the workplace and in common areas and also adhere to the recommended safety measures
- In line with the ban on large public gatherings and events, Management is reviewing all upcoming events and activities for necessary action to be taken
Meanwhile, the following internal measures are being instituted for employees:
- Suspension of Travel (Foreign)
All international travel is suspended until further notice. Employees are encouraged to use telephone, social media, and video/cloud conferencing instead of face-to-face meetings as much as possible during this outbreak. IT support services are available to employees who need assistance with these technologies. Departmental heads will also advise on provisional steps to be taken in light of travel suspension.
- Out of station staff
Employees, who have already travelled out of the country or within the country on project work, are advised to contact the in-country local health centers for updates. They should self-isolate if they feel they have been exposed or feel unwell and contact government helplines for assistance. Please keep your respective line managers and team leaders updated in order to provide the needed support. Upon returning to Ghana or Accra, staff should undergo a mandatory 14-day self-isolation before returning physically to the office. Please liaise with your line managers and team leaders on work schedule.
- Working from home
Management is assessing options for staff to work from home. Management directives on this option will be communicated in due course.
- Attending and Organizing Public Events
Generally, staff should avoid large meetings and gatherings of any sort if not necessary. In that regard, from March 16, 2020, Management will work with team leaders to assess all upcoming public events and take necessary action.
- Keeping the office environment safe
The Center will provide alcohol-based hand sanitizers throughout the workplace and in common areas. Cleaning sprays and wipes will also be provided to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces such as telephones and keyboards.
All staff are reminded to continue practicing the recommended safety measures. We are advised to refrain from panic and refer to the attached guidelines in staying safe and protected.
We encourage everyone to adhere to the recommended safety measures for containing the spread of the virus and visit www.ghanahealthservice.org/covid19/ for frequent updates about COVID-19. If we are aware of anyone in our families or communities who need help, let’s do the best we can to support them.
