Dr. J. Atsu Amegashie is a D&D Fellow at CDD-Ghana. He is a Professor of Economics at the University of Guelph in Canada and a Fellow of the Center for Economic Studies and the Ifo Institute for Economic Research (CESifo) in Munich, Germany and the Tshepo Institute of Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada.
He has, among others, held visiting positions and/or taught at Oxford University, U.K., Simon Fraser University, University of Munich, Germany, University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana, 2011 Tax Policy School, Ghana, and the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) in Kenya.
Dr. Amegashie holds a Bachelor of Arts (first honors) degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana, Master’s degrees from Queen’s University and Dalhousie University both in Canada, a Postgraduate Diploma from the London School of Economics, U.K. and a PhD in Economics from Simon Fraser University, Canada.
He is a reviewer for more than 40 journals in Economics and Management Science and is on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Political Economy; Defence and Peace Economics; the Journal of Behavioral and Experimental Economics, and was recently a guest editor of the Ghanaian Journal of Economics.
His fields of specialization are Public Economics, Development Economics, and Microeconomics.
