Building Partnerships to Drive Change
To measure whether information from ‘I Am Aware’ empowers citizens, we’ve developed close partnerships with specific local groups in 20 Districts across 12 out of the 16 Regions of Ghana for dissemination. These groups include Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), Farmers Associations, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Youth groups, Unions, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and media organizations passionate about public services delivery at the district level. These groups receive regular information and updates on the state of public services through SMS, e-mails and the ‘I Am Aware’ website for onward dissemination to stakeholders (citizens) at the district level.
Data is collected twice yearly from these 20 districts to evaluate citizen empowerment and assess how they use the information they receive to demand improved services and accountability from duty bearers. Data collected is also aimed at understanding how their demands influence change in public service delivery performance and accountability in districts citizens reside.
