As Ghana navigates the implementation of the National Decentralization Policy and Strategy (2026–2030), and with the Constitutional Review Committee’s report calling for a major overhaul of our
decentralization agenda, it is critical to address the persistent gap between our constitutional
vision and the practical realities of local governance.

This workshop seeks to contribute knowledge on the practice of local government to inform
ongoing reform discussions and implementation. The workshop also seeks to bring together
key architects of our democracy, policymakers, civil society, technical experts, and the
media, to deliberate on the roadmap for reform.
