Democracy and Governance Internship Program

Our Democracy and Governance Internship Program has been running since in 2009.  It offers opportunities to Ghanaian university students intern with the Center. The internship program, runs in July up to September each year and seeks to nurture budding talents in democratic and governance processes, has trained over 25 promising young professionals since its inception.

Interns are usually placed with the Center’s Research, Programs and Advocacy unit, where they are mentored and guided areas such as research, advocacy, good governance, democracy, elections, social accountability, among others.  of application and interviews in July CDD-Ghana also offers internship positions to undergraduate and graduate students from international universities through a competitive process.

Local internship opportunities are available all year round.

CDD-Ghana Democracy & Governance Internship Application Form

Brief Description

The CDD-Ghana Democracy and Governance (D&G) internship program since its inception in 2009 has nurtured budding talents in democratic and governance processes and trained over 25 promising young professionals.

Selection Process

Candidates are selected through a competitive essay writing competition. The top five (5) candidates will then compete for the ultimate top three (3) spots.

The final three (3) selected candidates will be placed within the Center’s Research, Programs and Advocacy unit, where they will be mentored and guided in areas such as; research, advocacy, good governance, democracy, elections, social accountability, among others.

Eligibility

The D&G internship program is opened to third and final year university students in Ghana and across the world.

Duration

The program runs from May up to August during the long vacation period every year.

A completed application should include:

  • A signed introductory letter from current school
  • A short essay based on recent issues on democracy and governance to be advertised.

Answers given in this application form must be typed and completed in full.

Selected candidates are then placed within the Center’s Research, Programs and Advocacy unit where they contribute to the development, planning and execution of projects and activities.

Eligibility

The All Year-Round internship program is opened to both undergraduate and post-graduate students, as well as young professionals in Ghana and across the world.

Duration

The program runs from January through to December each year.

  • An application letter
  • A Curriculum Vitae
  • A recent writing sample
