Why We Collect Data on Security
There is recognition that there is a relationship between internal security and development; security influences a country’s developmental process and insecurity is a threat to development. To improve internal security and to fight crime, governments in Ghana have retooled the security services. In particular, the Ghana Police Service has seen substantial investment in personnel development and training; acquisition of patrol vehicles, crime prevention gear and communication gadgets to assist the service meet and to tackle complex internal security needs and challenges.
However, in spite of these investments citizens are unaware of how to access and use information on these improvements in internal security in order to demand accountably and improved service delivery.
