Evaluating Gender Bias In AI Applications Using Household Survey Data

Over the past year, CDD-Ghana in collaboration with AidData, utilizing geospatial data and the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) data as its foundation, has looked into the nuances of gender bias in wealth estimates generated by AI. This project analyzed the intricate relationship between AI models, wealth estimates and gender dynamics. AI’s capacity was used to discern and classify to reveal biases that may lie hidden within the DHS data.
