CDD-Ghana calls for restraint and peace following the Supreme Court’s directions on the vacation of MPs’ seats

Following the recent scuffle between Parliament and the Judiciary on the declaration of some four (4) parliamentary seats vacant by the Speaker of Parliament, the Center in this statement urges parties involved to avoid any actions that could lead to escalating tensions as we approach the December 7 polls.

The Center calls for a deep reflection on the relevant constitutional provisions governing parliamentary seats, especially during election years. This is vital to ensure that remedies are available for affected individuals and parties without plunging the nation into legal or political uncertainty.
